What this Blog Is and What It Isn't
Welcome! I thought that I'd explain a few things about this blog so that you know what to expect....
What This Blog Is:
Commentary- I will be posting here about the news, politics, popular culture, and mass media, as well as selected reviews Bulletins- I will (very) occasionally post updates on what is going on in my life, as well as the lives of those people and organizations that I support. (Generally, however, these posts will removed after time unless they have some permanent relevance).
Archives- I've written for both the Internet and print media for years. Unfortunately, up until now, I haven't had a portfolio that I could easily share with potential employers or other interested parties. This blog is intended to rectify that, and will serve as my "virtual portfolio" for purposes of getting new work and showing off my old. I expect to post published and unpublished old pieces as I come across them, and occasionally revise and comment on them.
What This Blog Isn't:
Public domain- I am thrilled to see anything I write re-posted or linked to for non-commercial use. However, I reserve the right to earn money from my own work. Anyone who quotes from, refers to, or reprints my articles on the Internet MUST provide a link to the original article. Anyone who does the same in other media MUST include proper attribution. All of my posts on this blog are published under a Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-No Derivative Works 3.0 License, as described at the bottom of this blog and at the end of each individual entry.
A diary- If you want to know what I ate for breakfast, what music I'm listening to, or who I'm going out with, give me a call or add me to Facebook. You won't find it here.
Breaking news- I don't have the resources to compete with CNN, the AP, or even The Daily Kos, so I'll leave the breaking news to them. Once other people report it, however, I may comment on it,
A gossip column- I don't get invited to the same cool parties that Michael Musto and Perez Hilton apparently do, so I'm not going to pretend I know something about celebrities and pseudolebrities that you don't.
